Campus
OsloMet has two campuses. One in Oslo and the other in Kjeller, near the town of Lillestrøm.
Our Pilestredet campus is surrounded by cafés for reading or meeting friends, and restaurants where you can have lunch at reasonable prices. All the main attractions of downtown Oslo, including stores, parks, bars and the Oslo Fjord, are just a short walk or streetcar ride away.
Like many urban campuses, Pilestredet is compact. You can walk from one end of the campus to the other in about ten minutes. There’s plenty of architecture to admire along the way, from old brick buildings – the northern part of the campus sits on the grounds of a brewery that opened in the 1850s – to modern glass buildings that remind you you’re in Scandinavia. Throughout the campus, you’ll find cafeterias, libraries, student pubs, gyms and even a climbing wall.
Surrounded by fields on one side and a research park on the other, our Kjeller campus is housed in a modern glass building. Surrounded by large windows that let in plenty of natural light, the library is an ideal place to read while admiring the picturesque surroundings.
The Kjeller campus is located away from the hustle and bustle of Oslo, but is easy to get to from the city by public transport. The fast-growing town of Lillestrøm is home to cafés, restaurants and stores. It’s a 5-minute bus ride or a 30-minute walk. A student residence, Åråsen, is also just a few minutes’ walk from the campus.
To discover
Norway is home to numerous mountains, waterfalls, rivers, forests, lakes and some of the longest, deepest and most stunning fjords in the world, where the sea cuts into the landscape and is flanked by imposing mountains.
In the northern part of Norway, above the Arctic Circle, the sun never sets in summer and never rises in winter. You can discover the midnight sun and the northern lights.
Norway’s capital is one of Europe’s fastest-growing cities. Oslo’s architecture, museums and innovative neighborhoods are the talk of the international media, as is everything that’s happening on the food, fashion, art and music scenes.
In recent years, several new districts have sprung up in the city center, with exciting new activities and attractions. The skyscrapers of the Barcode district and captivating monuments such as the Astrup Fearnley Opera House and Museum are changing the face of the city. They were also accompanied by the two new MUNCH museums and the National Museum.
Oslo is a green city and has been awarded the prestigious title of European Green Capital in 2019. More than half the municipality is covered in forests and parks, and the fjord stretches all the way to downtown. The center itself is becoming increasingly car-free and easy to explore on foot or by bike. The rest of the city is easily accessible thanks to an efficient public transport system.
The capital abounds in green experiences, whether you want to swim, kayak or stroll the islands, relax in pretty parks or walk, bike or ski in the forest. In the botanical gardens, you can visit the Nordic region’s first Climate House and see exhibitions on climate change. What’s more, more and more restaurants are offering green menus, while the number of eco-certified hotels is increasing every year.
Good to know
Summer in Oslo is close to paradise: the light never really disappears, it’s never too hot and the water in the fjord is so clean you can swim in it.
Work-life balance is sacred in Norway, and this balance is also reflected in student life. Outside the classroom, you’ll find student associations for all kinds of activities, allowing you to lead an active student life.
Le coût de la vie pour un étudiant est estimé à 13 790 NOK par mois (environ 1200€).
