Good to know
The Latin etymology of the word “Florence” means “the city of flowers”. And with good reason: the city was built in Tuscany on the banks of the River Arno, where the land was particularly lily-filled. Considered a royal plant, a symbol of power and purity, the lily has become the emblem of Florence and is present throughout the city.
