Bejing Foreign Studies Universities, or BFSU, is one of China’s top universities under the direct administration of the Chinese Ministry of Education. His motto is “Learning with an open mind; serving a great cause”.
In the BFSU alumni community, over 400 have worked as ambassadors and over 2,000 as advisors. The BFSU is therefore known as “a cradle of diplomats”.
Affiliated to the BFSU, the International Business School is one of China’s most internationalized business schools. It is also AACSB accredited.

Campus
The university includes 2 campuses in central Beijing.
It has its own hospital and medical services for campus students. The campus includes a sports field with athletics track, tennis courts and basketball courts, and a fully-equipped gymnasium is also available to students. The gymnasium covers 7600 square meters and is equipped with swimming pools, a gym, cardio and weight training facilities, a chess room and a card room. Students can also relax in the bar and cafés. The library currently has a collection of books in 74 languages, including Chinese, English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Arabic.
We also advise you to install Wechat on your cell phone before coming to China. It’s the equivalent of Whatsapp (which is sometimes blocked in China – so ask your most important contacts abroad to install Wechat too). To connect to the campus Wi-Fi network, you need to register at the Card Service Center on the East Campus. It is also possible to obtain a private Wi-Fi connection in the dormitory room, for a monthly fee of 120 CNY. The router costs CNY 230, in case you don’t have your own.

Bejing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China. The Forbidden City, former residence of the emperor, has been a Unesco World Heritage site since 1987. China’s political center, the Forbidden City was built in the 15th century by a Ming dynasty emperor on the model of traditional Chinese houses. Until 1924, the Forbidden City was reserved exclusively for the Emperor, his family and their servants. The public wasn’t even allowed to watch it.
A symbol of China and a World Heritage Site, the Great Wall was built gradually over the centuries against invaders from the North. This gigantic military fortification still boasts over 8850 kilometers of ramparts.
Or Tian’anmen Square, one of the largest public squares in the world with its four hundred and forty thousand square meters, or the Summer Palace and its immense park, the Temple of Heaven which, according to the principles of Chinese cosmology, was considered to be the gateway to the celestial world.
Don’t miss a performance of Peking opera and an introduction to Peking cuisine, with its many flavors and dishes, of which Peking duck is undoubtedly the most famous.
Good to know
The Chinese currency is called the Chinese yuan (CNY) or renminbi (RMB).
The units are yuan, jiao and fen, 1 yuan = 10 jiao = 100 fen.
Local stores and outlets do not accept currencies other than CNY.
Foreign currency can be exchanged for CNY at banks and airports (with a valid identity card or passport).
China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom are the three main providers of telecommunications services in mainland China. Please bring your passport with you when purchasing a SIM card. Cell phones from Sony, HTC and some other brands may not be compatible with Chinese SIM cards.

Procedures
Passport valid for six months after your return date.
Visa is required.
According to Chinese law, students holding an X1 visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entry into China Not adhering to this regulation will be considered as illegal residents and be liable to a fine of a maximum amount of CNY 10000. Or being deported for illegal residence. Students with an X1 visa should contact the Overseas Students Affairs Office upon arrival to conduct the Residence Permit application immediately.
All students holding an X1 visa must have a physical examination done. If you plan to do it in Beijing, the cost is about CNY 400 Any physical examination is only valid for 6 months. Your physical examination and laboratory test results must be notarized. When you arrive at BFSU you must go to the hospital to have your physical examination results verified.
For X2 visa, it’s normally valid for no more than 180 days with ONE entry permit to Chinese Mainland. If any plans to Hongkong or Macao during the stay at BFSU, please contact the Overseas Student Affairs Office for extra entry permit a least one month before the trip.

All foreign students who study in China for one or more semesters have to purchase Medical and Accidental Insurance. nsurance can be purchased from China Ping’ an Insurance Company upon registration or purchase online before arrival (http://www.lxbx.net/index-e.html ). The fee is CNY 400 for one semester, or CNY 800 for the whole year.

Accommodation
Accommodation at the university is limited, but it is also possible to stay in an off-campus dorm not far from the university. Students who know Beijing well, or who have friends or family living here, can choose accommodation in the city.
Four dormitories are reserved for international students. All rooms are fully equipped.
