Strengths
Breda University is an internationally renowned institute where the majority of programs taught in English attract more than 1,000 students from around the world. The link with international industry is very strong, as more than 50% of all students do their internship and/or final projects and theses abroad.
A considerable number of staff members (15%) are not from the Netherlands and many others have international experience, either in industry or academia.
International composition classrooms provide an essential learning environment that is highly rewarding and extremely relevant to the future of graduates in a rapidly globalizing world. Key values are transparency and openness, connection between people, sustainability, unity and use of technology. As a result, the campus provides all of its residents with a sense of security and comfort, which is vital to the well-being of our community.

Campus
The University’s campus is located outside the city center of Breda. With its many trees, wide walkways, athletic fields, historic convent and several renovated structures, the campus is a charming and welcoming place.
The three buildings are located on the beautiful campus on the Hopmansstraat in Breda.
In the former convent, you will find the library and a study and resource center with quiet spaces.
The hotel training courses are also located here, as well as catering areas and the Service Desk. Throughout the campus, you will find food, a place to work quietly or relax.
There are several athletic and recreational facilities on campus for students and staff. You can play soccer, table tennis or chess, both indoors and outdoors. It is possible to produce radio programs and you can also make music in the music room!
Various food courts are present on campus. For meals, you can go to the Food Plaza in the Frontier Building or to Mr. Croque, Umami and Santé in the Horizon building.
Do you prefer to eat à la carte? Facility and Hotel students would like to welcome you to Sibelicious Restaurant in the Horizon Building.

Breda is the main city of Nassau and still has many beautiful monuments from this period such as the Great Church. Breda is the 9th largest city in Holland and is located in the province of North Brabant. Besides a rich history, Breda is also known for being a friendly city with many cafes, terraces and great restaurants. Breda is also a great city for shopping with a wide range of specialty stores and unusual boutiques.
Sports, culture, events… You can find everything. And also many nice places to relax with your friends. You will not be bored for a moment and, as a student, you will benefit from discounts in many places.
In Breda, you will discover the famous conviviality typical of this city.
If you are a fan of special beers, you must go to Café de Beyerd. With its own brewery and over a hundred beers on the menu.
The fortifications of the city played an important role during the wars with the French from 1793 to 1795 and 1813. Today, explore these robust historic structures on foot, known as “The Historic Mile.
The FlixBus also offers easy access to Amsterdam and the airports of Brussels and Eindhoven.

Breda University of Applied Sciences organizes a fun orientation program to prepare you, as a future student, as well as possible for your student life in Breda.
Over the course of an event, you’ll get to know your classmates, professors, campus and the lovely student town of Breda a little better. You will do this through all kinds of activities that will take place this year on our campus and in Breda.
In addition to this program, an informative launch day will be organized for international students.
Breda is a dynamic city with a busy calendar. You will find many events and festivals that return every year. One of them is the HBO Intro Festival Breda which takes place in September. A must-attend event for all students, whether freshmen or seniors, who want to start their academic year on the right foot.
The number of places in Erasmus + is limited. The granting of the scholarship is therefore not automatic and the amount may vary. However, we invite you to apply because exchange places (excluding Erasmus +) may be offered. Please refer to the Erasmus+ section.

Procedures
ID Card or passport (compulsory for destinations outside the EU) valid for six months after your return date.
European Health Insurance Card compulsory to integrate the lectures.
For students coming from outside of the EU, you must proceed to a visa request.

Accommodation
Unfortunately, Breda University does not have any student rooms on campus.
Rental prices for a student room in Breda vary between 300€ and 600€ per month. However, you will most often find rooms to rent for about 400 €.
In the Netherlands, the rooms are mostly single rooms in a house shared by a group of students or young people. You share spaces like the living room (if available), kitchen and bathroom. Most of the rooms offered are unfurnished (no furniture, curtains, carpet, etc.).
