To discover
There are many must-see attractions in Seville, but the capital of the Andalusian region also has what travelers seek most : the atmosphere. While the city’s vibrant mix of Gothic, Mudejar and modern architecture is dazzling, it is the Sevillians’ craving for life that makes a stay in Seville so unique and unforgettable. You will find an irresistible vitality that gives Spain’s fourth largest city a warm and sunny glow. Do not miss:
– the Cathedral, third largest cathedral in the world after Saint Peter in Rome and Saint Paul in London and a UNESCO heritage site ;
– the Alcazar – a complex of royal palaces, patios and gardens considered to be the world’s ancient royal palace and still used today by the royal family of Spain on some occasions ;
– the Barrio de Santa Cruz, which was Seville’s Jewish quarter until the end of the 13th century, when synagogues were closed, houses confiscated and thousands of Jews killed or forced to convert to Christianity. Santa Cruz has narrowed, cobbled alleys and streets, it is filled with orange trees, colorful patios and small squares as well as a wide range of tapas bars and restaurants. The neighborhood is perfect for travelers wishing to experience the ambiance of a medieval Spanish town ;
–the magnificent Plaza de España, where the buildings are a rare example of the neo-regionalist style of architecture, which is defined by the use of local materials. Today, the structures are used as government offices ;
– the Placa de Toros, where bullfights always take place here on Sundays from spring to autumn and where up to 14,000 people can attend.
