To discover
The city of Münster is divided into six municipal districts (Stadtbezirke): Mitte, Nord, Ost, West, Süd-Ost and Hiltrup. The city center is also divided into old historical districts with sometimes blurred outlines, like for example: Aaseestadt, Erphoviertel, Geistviertel, Hansaviertel, Kreuzviertel, Kuhviertel, Mauritzviertel, Pluggendorf, Rumphorst and Südviertel. After being completely destroyed during the Second World War, Münster has been rebuilt identically.
Worth mentioning: the Rathaus, its town hall in Münster and the most famous monument of the Prinzipalmarkt, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Residenzschloss or Münster Castle or the Mühlenhof open-air museum.
Good to know
Münster is a city which aims for a greater ecology. Bicycle and buses infrastructures are very developed: many public bicycles garages are available, in particular in the most visited public places. The city is best known for its impressive number of cyclists and the charm of its historical center.
There is a popular saying that in Münster, “It either rains or the bells are ringing.” And if it’s both, then it’s Sunday ”.
