Good to know
Milan hosted in 2015 the World Expo on the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The city is indeed famous for its fashion week and its many designer shops. The Navigli district, crossed by canals, is the most picturesque in Milan. Originally, this system of canals made it possible to connect the Po river to the lakes of the region. They were used to transport goods and to supply water to Milan. The dam and lock system used was invented by Leonardo da Vinci. The marble used for the construction of the Milan dome was even transported through these canals. Today, people come to the Navigli area to stroll along the canals and enjoy a drink or a meal on one of the restaurant terraces.
