Campus
Founded in 1914, the president at that time thought that the mountains surrounding El Paso looked a lot like with the Bhutanese mountains from the Himalayan foothills, which is why he decided to build the university in a Bhutanese monasteries style.
The current 90 buildings were all built according to this architectural style and have High Tech facilities and equipment.
20,000 students whose 75% are Hispanics come to study at UTEP and represent a great cultural diversity.
The university’s basketball team (the Miners) is ranked. Its impressive sports equipment attracts athletes from all over the world.
