Strengths
Founded in 1834, the University of the Ozarks is the oldest one in Arkansas, and one of the oldest higher education institutions at west of the Mississippi River. It was founded by Presbyterians from Cumberland in 1834 as the Cane Hill School in Cane Hill. The University of the Ozarks is a private liberal arts university located north of downtown Clarksville, Arkansas. With small size classes and very committed teachers, the University of the Ozarks is not just a campus but a community.

Campus
The 30-acre University of the Ozarks campus sits on top of College Hill on the northern edge of Clarksville, Arkansas. The campus has now more than 20 buildings, the ten main of which are arranged around a central boulevard with a picturesque fountain. The tall trees and classic styled buildings give the campus a distinctive look.
A “Food for Thought” community garden provides fresh products all year-round on campus.

Clarksville is located in the Ozark National Forest ; the rich landscapes allow lots of outdoor activities : canoeing, fishing, hiking and camping. Clarksville is the entering gate to the Eureka Springs, a secluded and peaceful town where the streets are lined with extraordinary Victorian houses clinging on the cliffs. The whole downtown area is registered in the National Register of Historical Places.
Good to know
Sports are an important part of life in Ozarks and the athletics department has activities for everyone. The “Ozarks Outdoors” program offers its students the opportunity to explore and enjoy the local and regional natural wealth of the Arkansas River Valley.
The Student Life Office provides students with a shuttle service throughout the academic year (including the ride to or from Little Rock Airport).
